Weather Seminar

An enjoyable sailing experience can be sabotaged by a nasty turn in the weather.  Learn techniques to evaluate the weather prior to departure and out on the water.  Ensure your safety and that of your crew.  Use knowledge of the weather to improve race results.

Wind direction and strength change throughout the day.  Satellite photos track cloud formations, storm fronts, wind direction, speed and circulation, the movement of low and high pressure areas.  Participate in a discussion of how to combine wind and tide information to chart and monitor a successful course for leisure sailing or racing.

**During the days preceding this event, view satellite photos, radar and weather reports daily in preparation for questions and discussion.
If you own a compass, please bring it with you to class.**
